The shipping Canal Danube-Black Sea achived in the South East part of Romania, is under operation since 1984.
This canal connects the inland waterways and ports to the Constantza harbour , where the biggest ships transiting ,the Suez Canal can be operated.Owing to its location , the Constantza Harbour becomes the eastern EuroPort.
In this way, the Danube Black Sea Canal and Constantza Harbour enchance the value of the Trans-European Waterway System Rhine-Danube.
The owner of the canal, initially denominated Danube-Black Sea Canal Administration and now called  Administration of the Navigable Canals has been the general investor since 1975 and has provided  the acceptance of the prepared technical and economic documentation , the quality control of works  and their related cost discount.
Finally, between the Danube and the Black Sea has been acived an entire navigable canals system including the main canal which ends in the  Constantza Sea Port and the Northern Branch Poarta Albă-Midia Năvodari, which is linking the main canal with the port Midia and Taşaul Lake.
The building of the Canal was carget to a specially created company, The Danube-Black Sea Building Department (CCDMN).This company carried out the construction works during 1976-1984 by its own enterprises.The Norten Branch Poarta Albă-Midia Năvodari was carried out between 1984-1987 by the Hidrotechnical Construction Enterprise in Constantza. In 1998 ACN becomes National Company.
